URS FISCHER SIGNS THE ANNIVERSARY POSTER FOR THE 2024 LONGINES GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR - LONGINES PARIS EIFFEL JUMPING
The LONGINES GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR - LONGINES PARIS EIFFEL JUMPING, a prestigious show jumping competition founded by Virginie Coupérie-Eiffel ten years ago, reveals the poster for its next edition. Like every year, the LONGINES GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR - LONGINES PARIS EIFFEL JUMPING asked an artist to create it. It is Urs Fischer, the famous visual artist of Swiss origin recently exhibited at Place Vendôme and whose monumental works marked the opening of the Pinault Foundation in Paris, who created this anniversary poster.
A POSTER THAT PLAYS WITH THE THREE KEY ELEMENTS OF THE EVENT: THE HORSE, THE JUMP AND THE EIFFEL TOWER, TO ADDRESS THE MOST PEOPLE.
Whatever our age, our social origin, our knowledge of this sport, show jumping has something universal which seduces and brings each spectator back to an essential emotion. It is this immediate simplicity that Urs Fischer wished to convey in the poster he proposes, by playing with the aesthetic and symbolic dynamics of the three elements which compose it - namely the horse, the jump, and the Eiffel Tower - considering them in turn as graphic elements, vectors of emotions, which can almost change their place. This simplicity aims to make the poster's message as immediate as possible. “I wanted everyone to be able to feel involved in the event, including those who are not used to going to this type of show” confides the artist.
THE HORSE, THE EIFFEL TOWER:
TWO VECTOR ELEMENTS OF A POWERFUL AND FASCINATING IMAGINATION
If today children play with small cars, in the past they played with small horses. The horse is one of those popular and immemorial images whose reproductions date back to the dawn of time. The same goes for the Eiffel Tower which is an integral part of the identity of the event. Beyond the extraordinary work created by Gustave Eiffel, it represents an object known throughout the world, reproduced in millions of copies, whether in the form of key rings, cuddly toys, etc. "The Eiffel Tower has become, beyond the work, a form with an iconic aura which goes so far as to give its energy to Paris, like no other Parisian monument. It is a true aesthetic feat which has never been nothing to prove, nothing to tell, just to be. The Eiffel Tower is one of those extraordinary monuments which form the link between the Earth and the sky. Its force in the collective unconscious is spectacular" notes Urs Fischer.
This year, the most glamorous horse racing event of the Parisian summer will be held, exceptionally, at Plaine de Jeux de Bagatelle, giving way to the big 2024 meeting. It is therefore in a green setting that the best horses and riders from around the world, will offer a unique, majestic spectacle that can be understood by all.
